the first day in berlin yay!
after an actual sleepless night, i made my way on the train towards the german capital. due to deadlines and other work commitments i used this time to get some work done, which for some reason always gets me some weird looks from other people on the train - i'm just being resourceful with my time...
once i got to berlin, i made my way towards our hotel in prenzlauer berg/mitte. i am pleasantly surprised that i found it as i am known for having the worst sense of direction, but thanks to a little help from google maps and my ability to speak german i was fine. i'm really enjoying berlin's public transport system, it seems so frequent and consistent, and is so much less confusing than london's underground - something i will never understand.
a few days before coming to berlin, topshop posted a picture on their twitter feed, calling all 'berliners' to take a photo with these super bright posters around berlin, posting it on instagram and tagging it with #tstmloveberlin in order to be in with the chance of winning tickets to their exclusive party and collection launch. so when i spotted one of the posters just around the corner from alexanderplatz, i couldn't resist taking some snaps.
in the evening, we went for a stroll around berlin's 'upper east side' (gossip girl nostalgia yesssss) and ended up in a restaurant called vapiano. they're an international chain, really well known in germany but so far i've only seen one in the UK. amazing food though, so if you ever come across one - try it.
after a quick look at the brandenburger tor, which looks so beautiful at night, we spotted the mercedes benz fashion week tent. this is definitely the closest i have been to a FW event, so let's hope within the next five years or so, i will actually be allowed inside one of these. we then went for a loooong walk around the area around bahnhof berlin friedrichstrasse (we may have got a little lost thanks to my rubbish sense of direction), but ended up settling into the brauhaus mitte as i wanted the girls to have their first 'brauhaus alster', a traditional german beer mixed with sprite - which is very common to drink here. i'm not sure how keen they were but when in germany...
really excited to be visiting the premium tradeshow tomorrow and fingers crossed for those TSTMLOVEBERLIN tickets, please.
lots of love from berlin
