day four of berlin.
one thing i definitely wanted to see whilst in berlin was the east side gallery, a one kilometre long strip of the berlin wall, still standing near the ostbahnhof. select artists covered the pieces in art and words, and over the year graffiti has been added by locals and tourists. i was particularly keen to see the 'fraternal love' piece, although someone has written 'faggot$' all over it.. (that's the spirit, idiots). as aimee and i were trying to find the ESG, we came across a small courtyard entitled 'youth african art market' or yaam for short. it was a collection of a handful of african restaurants/bars/shops, surrounded by graffiti art and skateboarding half pipes. it was really interesting and i'm sure they have the best parties during warmer months.
